About Assorted Lithops

Lithops belongs to the Aizoaceae family, specifically the Lithops genus. Their appearance closely resembles stones. Their leaves are typically flat, smooth, and thick in texture. They come in various colors such as gray, brown, and green, often with spots, patterns, or textures on the leaf surface. In autumn, Lithops produce flowers of yellow, white, and other colors from the central cleft between the leaves. When it thrive, the flowers almost entirely cover the entire plant, making it exceptionally beautiful.

How to care for Assorted Lithops

Sun/Temperature: Lithops thrive in ample sunlight and should be placed in a bright location with direct sunlight exposure. They can tolerate high temperatures but should be protected from excessive heat, especially during summer. The optimal temperature range for Lithops growth is between 60°F to 80°F. During winter, temperatures should be kept above 50°F for safe overwintering.

Soil/Watering: Choose loose, well-draining sandy soil and add appropriate succulent fertilizer. The soil pH should be between 6.0 to 7.0. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Reduce watering frequency moderately during winter to allow the soil to dry slightly. The soak and dry watering method is recommended.

Pot: Opt for pots with drainage holes to ensure proper drainage. Since Lithops have underdeveloped root systems, smaller pots are preferable.

Diseases and Pests: Common diseases affecting Lithops include leaf spot and leaf rot. These can be treated with a 65% dithane zinc wettable powder diluted at a ratio of 600 times.

Molting: This refers to the gradual shedding of old leaf skins during growth, revealing new leaves underneath. The molting period for Lithops is typically from February to April. During this time, cease fertilization and control watering. Caution should be exercised when manually removing old skins to avoid injuring the plant.

Fertilizing: Apply diluted succulent fertilizer once a month during the growing season, but avoid excessive fertilization.

In general, it takes 3 to 10 days for plants to arrive after you place your order. All orders will be shipped out 48 hours after you place them. We ship the orders on work days(from Monday to Saturday) and all year round. In normal conditions, it will take 3-10 days for you to receive the package. Estimated shipping times are offered as needed.

HOLIDAYS: During weeks in which a holiday occurs - Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, etc. - shipping may be delayed until the following week.

Winter shipping

We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.

Please note that The Next Gardener is not responsible for packages that suffer cold damage without a heat pack. We cannot control the weather. Order at your own risk.

Hawaii, Alaska, and Other US Territories

Fortunately, shipping is available to Alaska, Guam, and other U.S. Territories. However, due to numerous factors beyond our control, including customs checks and shipping delays, free shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico is not an option. And we can not provide the 14-day quality guarantee for orders going to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The buyer will assume all risk of damage when a delivery is delayed. We appreciate your understanding.

Sorry. No International Shipping for now!!!

Little faces

My lithops arrived and looked like the trip was pumpy. Once out of the travel box their color began to show up. They all look good each in their clay pot. I have them outside for lots of sun. I have read they can go for months without water. How do they react to a rainstorm?
